If you missed the last audition for Brundibár, a Children’s Opera, which is to be staged at the Artscape Theatre from 18 - 21 July 2011, then contact Serena at Cape Town Opera on 021 410 9919 or email her at SerenaD@capetownopera.co.za to book an audition slot for Tuesday 12 April between 3pm and 5pm. The audition takes place in Room 301, Artscape Theatre Centre and is for children between the ages of 7 and 16 years. Boys between the ages of 10 and 14 years with strong voices are encouraged to come along.
Should you be chosen to be part of the opera, you will have to be free for Music Rehearsals every Tuesday afternoon starting from 26 April 2011 from 3.30pm to 5.30pm; Production Rehearsals 28 June to 17 July; Performances 18 to 21 July in the Artscape Theatre (evenings at 7pm and one 3pm matinee) as well as Schools’ performances 25 to 29 July 2011.
It is essential to have written consent from a parent or guardian to be part of the opera and to attend rehearsals and performances
Directed by Aviva Pelham, Brundibár is the tale of two children who seek money to buy milk for their sick mother. Their quest is thwarted by an evil organ grinder named Brundibár, but with the help of three intelligent animals, the children defeat the unjust bully and return home in triumph.
