Cape Town Pennsylvanians

An American joining a Cape Town Minstrel group - can you believe that?

John Mason, is an American professor from Charlottesville, Virginia, USA who fell in love with Cape Town. He is writing a book about jazz in Cape Town.

He joined the Pennsylvanians Minstrel group, and in January 2007 and February 2007 he took part in their activities.

John is also a keen photographer. Check out his outings with the Pennsylvanians here.

A gallery of photos of one of John's many outings to the popular Monday Night Jazz Jams at the Swingers Jazz Pub can be viewed here.

Other galleries of John's photography can be found here and
here.

John, we are waiting for that book to be published.

"Jazz and freedom go hand in hand. That explains it. There isn't any more to add to it. If I do add to it, it gets complicated. That's something for you to think about. You think about it and dig it. You dig it..." Thelonious Monk
