18-20 March 2011


The SAJE JAZZ FESTIVAL will take place from Friday18 March to Sunday 20 March 2011 at UCT and at Jazz at the Nassau. This year's SAJE Jazz Festival comprises of 3 exciting days WORKSHOPS and PERFORMANCES by some of the most talented local and international jazz educators and artists.

Workshops will be conducted by

Amanda Tiffin - helping teachers and students prepare for jazz and jazz vocal auditions at tertiary level.
Alistair Andrews - introduction to music technology for school music programs
Bob Sinicrope - teaching jazz to beginners ...
Mike del Ferro (Holland) - networking for musicians
Carlo Mombelli - improvisation
Monique Hellenberg - relaxation techniques for jazz musicians and vocalists
Ed Backhouse - care for Brass

PERFORMANCES by
The Dan Shout Band
Mike del Ferro (Holland) - piano, Mike Rossi - woodwinds, Mike Campbell - bass and Heinrich Goosen - drums
Sandile Gontsana - voice and Mike del Ferro - piano

Teacher training workshops from 3.00pm to 5.30pm
with Amanda Tiffin, Alistair Andrews & Bob Sinicrope

Concert @ 8.15pm in the Chisholm Recital Room (C7) with Mike del Ferro (Holland), Ulrich Suesse (Germany), Carlo Mombelli, Mike Rossi, Sandile Gontsana, the Darren English Band, and some special guests ….

Saturday 19 March - SA College of Music @ UCT
Workshops & performances by Mike del Ferro (Holland), Carlo Mombelli, Bob Sinicrope (USA), Monique Hellenberg, Mike Rossi, Mike Campbell, Heinrich Goosen, the Dan Shout Band, the Roses (Mamelodi), Eddie Backhouse and some special guests ….. from 9.30am to 5.00pm

From Tuesday 22 March to Thursday 24 March we will also be conducting free jazz workshops at various schools in and around Cape Town. Please feel free to contact Diane with any queries or to book. Prices range from R25 to R75 for workshops and concerts.
Some of the guest artists will also be performing at various venues in and around Cape Town - at the Winchester Mansions Hotel Sunday Jazz Brunch and at the Green Dolphin amongst others.
