FONG KONG FEATURES SWISS DUO FILEWILE

FONG KONG FEATURES SWISS DUO FILEWILE
EXPLORING LINES OF DUB

Date: Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 9:00pm - 4:00am

Location: ALL NATIONS CLUB, 281 MAIN ROAD, SALT RIVER, CAPE TOWN

Fong Kong Bantu Sound System present Swiss club sensation, Filewile, as part of Cape Town leg of their African tour. TThe dub-driven Filewile duo, Dustbowl (Andreas Ryser) and Dejot (Daniel Jakob), will perform with guest vocalist Joy Frempong and Mago Flück on bass, and will collaborate with Cape Town MC Rattex on the Cape Town leg of their tour.

Filewile began in 2003 as two mobile laptop street musicians, blasting the streets with their battery-driven mobile sound-system. They have recorded and performed with artists from all over the world, own a record label, and produce music for commercials, theatre and documentaries. Their sound is constantly evolving, from dub-influenced electronica and twisted hip hop, to jangling percussion from mistreated echo devices with cheesy synthesizers.

Rapper Rattex has developed a cult following and is known as a true Cape Flats soldier, representing Khaltsha (Khayelitsha) wherever he performs. His powerful lyrics in isiXhosa, English and Cape Flats slang address important social issues in his edgy, urban style.

Fong Kong Bantus – Real Rozzano, Boeta Gee, Dubmasta China and Ntone Edjabe – will be in session too with their usual brand of genre mash-ups.

R50 gets you through the door from 9pm.
