Hamba Kahle Duke Ngcukana

Trumpeter Duke Ngcukana, passed away today, 16 April 2011.

Condolences to his Family and Friends.

Tributes:

Duke Ngcukana, another Cape Town Jazz legend, passed away on April, 16th. - In every note of his soulful flugelhorn playing you could hear what a genuinely warm person he was. And he was also an excellent educator: without him (and his late brother Ezra) no award winning "Little Giants", no IMAD (Institute for Music and Indigenous Arts Development), and also no MAPP (Music Action for People’s Progress), or no Choirimba (the Langa Adult Choir featuring a Marimba- and Jazz-Band). Duke, we will sorely miss you.

We send our most heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Regards

Andreas, George and Regina and all musicians of Jazz Potjie Projects

"Jazz and freedom go hand in hand. That explains it. There isn't any more to add to it. If I do add to it, it gets complicated. That's something for you to think about. You think about it and dig it. You dig it..." Thelonious Monk
