MIAGI Festival 2008 - Jazz and Classical Music

As part of this festival on Saturday, 3 May 2008 , trombonist, Jannie "Hanepoot" van Tonder is leading the MIAGI Youth Big Band. They will explore some South African jazz of composers like David Ledbetter, Merton Barrow, Dudu Pukwana, Errol Dyers and Douglas Armstrong.

The MIAGI Youth Orchestra will be conducted by Cem Mansur. Their program will include Giuseppe Verdi’s Overture to La Forza del Destino, Luigi Bocherini’s Cello Concerto in B flat major, Edward Grieg’s Peer Gynt suite nr. 1 op 46 and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s, Marche Slave op 31 in b flat minor.

This concert is free and happens on 3 May 2008, 20:00, at the Cape Town City Hall.
