SANGE's debut album "Xola" launch

A dynamic, vibrant, eclectic singer who defines with finesse a new meaning to Afro-pop, Afro-jazz and traditional South African music.

Following her debut album release “XOLA”, Sange recently had the opportunity to perform at the World Economic Forum where she had president Jacob Zuma and Helen Zille amongst dignitaries and heads of African States dance to her music.



Since Sange’s CD release, she has launched her album in Khayelitsha where she received an overwhelming response and will have a media launch at Moyo, Stellenbosch, Cape Town the 29th August 2009. This will be followed by a launch in Johannesburg date yet to be announced.

Sange’s has been featured on the TV program Hectic 99, SABC2. She also had several interviews with numerous radio stations such Radio Zibonele and Valley FM. Her music is enjoying radio airplay at radio stations such as Umhlobo Wenene, Heart 104.9, Radio 2000 and SA Fm to mention a few.

Sange is currently planning a national tour around Schools, Colleges and Universities this summer to promote her debut album.

Vocalist, dancer, drummer, percussionist and songwriter Neliswa Sampi Mxunyelwa, born in Worcester in 1979, started singing at the age of 8.
Her stage name, SANGE, depicts her performance presence. It means “hug” as she embraces and takes care of her audience by healing their souls through music.

Sange was the lead vocalist for recording group Inkokheli. With them, Sange performed extensively in venues such as G Spot, V & A Hotel, Green Dolphin, Manenbergs’ Jazz Café, Spier, as well as parliament private functions.

As a backing vocalist and dancer, Sange toured the Eastern Cape and South American countries such as Brazil, Chile and Argentina with renown artists such as Lungiswa Plaatjies and Don Laka.



Sange is also a member of a musical show entitled Under African Skies aka Diamonds and Dust with whom she performed around Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Johannesburg, Durban, Barhain (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Holland, Denmark, Belgium, Germany and Turkey.

Sange has taken part in the Jazzathon since 2001 with different acts such as Inkokheli, Prompt Project, Lunguiswa Plaatjies and with her own band.

The concert will be FREE for all.
